Privacy Policy
Hey Bhagwan · Last updated 16 October 2026
Hey Bhagwan ("the app", "we", "us") lets you speak with Hindu deities through conversation, voice, japa, aarti and meditation. The app is operated by Hey Bhagwan. This policy explains what we collect, why, who helps us run the app, and the choices you have. If you have any question, write to support@heybhagwan.in.
In short: we keep what you share so your deity can remember you. We never sell your data, never use your conversations for advertising, and you can delete everything at any time from the app.
1. What we collect
Your account
- When you sign in with Google or with your email address: your email address, your name (with Google) and an account identifier, through Firebase Authentication.
What you tell us when you join
- The name you would like to be called, your stage of life (for example student or working), what is on your mind (optional), your preferred language, country, time zone and the deity you choose.
Your conversations
- The messages you send and the replies you receive.
- Memories: short notes our AI draws from your conversations (for example the name of someone close to you, or an exam you are preparing for) so the deities remember you. You can read and delete each of them in Settings → Memories.
- Conversations can touch on your faith, health, family or feelings. We use this only to reply to you and to remember you; it is never used for advertising and never sold.
Your voice
- When you speak to a deity, the app uses your microphone only on the deity's screen, while you are speaking. The recording is sent to Google Cloud Speech-to-Text to be turned into text. We keep the text, not the recording.
- The deities' spoken replies are generated by Google Cloud Text-to-Speech from the reply text.
Your practice and rewards
- Japa counts, aarti and meditation sessions, the days you visit and your streak, karma, your gold balance and its history, how many rewarded ads you have watched, and festival blessings.
- Your settings, such as reply length, reminders and whether your profile is public.
Purchases
- Subscriptions and gold pouches are bought through Google Play. We receive what was bought, when, and whether a subscription is active, through our payments provider RevenueCat. We never see your card or bank details.
Ads (free plan only, and only when you choose)
- You can watch short rewarded ads to earn gold. These are served by Google AdMob, which may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address (from which an approximate location can be estimated), and information about how you interact with the ad. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent first through Google's consent form, and you can change your choice later. You can also reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
App usage
- We use Firebase Analytics (Google) to learn which features are used, for example that a meditation was played or an ad was watched. It collects an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system version and approximate location derived from your IP address. It does not receive your conversations.
- Our servers keep short-lived technical logs (such as IP address and the time of a request) to keep the service secure and working.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, files, calendar or precise location.
2. How we use it
- To run the app: replies from the deities, their voices, your memories, practice, streaks, karma and gold.
- To personalise replies: your name, language, life stage and memories shape what the deity says.
- To handle purchases, rewards and limits (free messages, talk time).
- To keep the app safe, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can improve it.
- To show rewarded ads, only when you choose to watch one.
3. Artificial intelligence
The deities' replies are written by artificial intelligence: Google's Gemini models on Google Cloud Vertex AI. Your messages, and the memories relevant to them, are sent to these models to write each reply. Google processes this data for us as a service provider and, under its Google Cloud terms, does not use it to train its models.
The replies are AI-generated reflections inspired by Hindu scripture and tradition. They are not the words of a real deity, priest or guru, and they are not medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. If you are in distress or thinking of harming yourself, please contact local emergency services or a crisis helpline straight away; in India you can call Tele-MANAS on 14416.
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the companies that help us run the app, under contracts that let them use it only to provide their service to us:
| Provider | What for |
|---|---|
| Google Cloud (Vertex AI, Speech-to-Text, Text-to-Speech, Cloud Run) | AI replies, speech recognition, the deities' voices and our servers |
| Google Firebase | Sign-in and usage analytics |
| Neon | Our database (hosted on Amazon Web Services) |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions and purchases |
| Google Play | Payments and app distribution |
| Google AdMob | Rewarded ads on the free plan |
Your public profile. Your profile is private unless you turn on public profile. If you do, other devotees can see your first name, your chosen deity, your karma, streak, gold earned and practice counts, and you may appear on the leaderboard. Your conversations and memories are never shown to anyone.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the safety of a person, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of the app (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data).
5. Where your data is stored
Our servers and database are in Singapore (Google Cloud asia-southeast1, and Neon on Amazon Web Services in Singapore). Some of our providers, such as Google's AI and analytics services, may process data in other countries. They protect it under their own security and data-protection commitments.
6. How long we keep it
- Your account, conversations, memories and practice are kept while your account exists, so the deities can remember you.
- You can delete a single conversation or memory at any time. Deleting your account removes all of it (see below).
- Voice recordings are not kept at all: only their text.
- Server logs are kept for a limited time (normally no more than 30 days).
- Records of purchases may be kept by Google Play and RevenueCat for as long as tax and accounting laws require.
- Ad and analytics data held by Google is kept under Google's own retention settings.
7. Deleting your account
In the app, open Settings → Delete account and all data. This immediately and permanently deletes your account, conversations, memories, practice, karma and gold from our database, and your sign-in account from Firebase. Copies in our backups are erased within 30 days. If you can no longer open the app, see how to ask us to delete your account.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the GDPR in Europe), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (Settings → Export my data gives you one at any time);
- correct it (your name and language can be changed in Settings at any time);
- delete it;
- withdraw your consent, for example to ads personalisation, at any time;
- nominate someone to exercise these rights for you in case of death or incapacity;
- complain to us, and, if you are not satisfied, to your data-protection authority (in India, the Data Protection Board of India).
To use any of these rights, or to raise a grievance, write to our grievance contact at support@heybhagwan.in from the email address you sign in with. We aim to reply within 30 days.
9. Children
Hey Bhagwan is meant for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has created an account, please write to us and we will delete it.
10. Security
All data travels between the app and our servers encrypted (HTTPS). It is encrypted at rest by our providers, and access to it is restricted to what is needed to run the app. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your information.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
